Podwobble

Privacy Policy

Effective 9 October 2026

The short version: The app doesn’t collect data about you or your work. Your files stay on your computer, and there are no analytics or trackers. The version downloaded from this site goes online for two things only: checking for updates, and checking your Pro license key if you have one. If you buy Pro from this site, Polar handles the payment and shares your name and email with us so we can help with your order. This website uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read, and keeps an email address only if you join the Windows waitlist.

Who we are

Podwobble is a Mac and Windows app made by Nicholas Johnson (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Podwobble app and this website, podwobble.com.

What the app collects

Podwobble has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking and no accounts. It doesn’t send information about your work to us or to anyone else. The version downloaded from this site makes two kinds of request, described below: update checks, and license checks if you’ve bought Pro there. Neither carries anything about your projects.

Updates

The App Store version of Podwobble goes online only to reach the App Store, through Apple’s own StoreKit, to sell Pro and check whether it’s active on your account (see Purchases below). The App Store delivers its updates.

The version downloaded from podwobble.com checks for a newer version each time it opens, by fetching a small file from GitHub, which hosts the downloads. Like any web request, this shows GitHub your IP address. It carries nothing about you or your projects. GitHub’s handling of that request is covered by the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

License checks

If you buy Podwobble Pro from this site, you paste a license key into the app. The app then talks to Polar, the company that sells Pro for us:

  • When you enter your key, it sends the key and your computer’s name (for example “Studio-MacBook-Pro”), so you can tell your computers apart when you manage them.
  • Each time the app opens, it sends the key to confirm it’s still active.
  • If you deactivate a computer, it tells Polar to free that computer’s place.

Like any web request, these show Polar your IP address. The app keeps your key and Polar’s last answer in a file on your computer, so Pro keeps working while you’re offline. The App Store version never does any of this.

Your files stay on your computer

Everything you work with in Podwobble is processed on your computer and stays there:

  • Audio you import, including any solo recordings of individual hosts.
  • Images: host photos, logos and background images.
  • Transcription. Captions are made by a speech model (whisper.cpp) that ships inside the app and runs on your computer. Your audio is never uploaded to be transcribed.
  • Projects, saved as .podwobble documents in Movies › Podwobble (Videos › Podwobble on Windows) unless you move them, with copies of the media they use.
  • Exports: videos and caption files, saved to the folder you pick.

The app also keeps a few settings in its own storage on your computer: palettes, templates and saved looks you make (with copies of the images they use), your list of recent projects, and your export folder. None of it is sent anywhere.

Purchases

Bought from this website. Podwobble Pro sold on podwobble.com is sold by Polar, which acts as the reseller: it takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt and license key. Polar collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details. It shares your name, email address, country and what you bought with us, so we can deliver your key and help with your order. We never see your full card details. We use your email only to reply to you and to deal with problems with your order: no newsletters, and we never share or sell it. Polar’s handling of your information is covered by the Polar Privacy Policy.

Bought on the App Store. In the App Store version, Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and your Apple ID, and shares no personal data with us: we never see your name, email address or payment details. The app only asks the App Store whether Pro is active on your account, and that answer stays on your Mac. Apple’s handling of your information is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Apple gives developers sales and download totals that don’t identify anyone. If you’ve chosen in your Mac’s settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also pass on anonymous crash reports. Both are run by Apple and controlled by your Mac’s settings, not by Podwobble.

Keeping and deleting data

Unless you buy Pro from this site, we don’t hold any data about you. If you have, your order stays in Polar for as long as tax and accounting rules require. To have the rest deleted, write to support@podwobble.com. Deleting your order data also ends your license key.

To remove what Podwobble has stored on your computer, delete the app and any .podwobble projects and exported files you no longer want. The App Store version keeps its settings in ~/Library/Containers/com.cubtasm.Podwobble. The downloaded version keeps its settings and license file in ~/Library/Application Support/com.cubtasm.Podwobble. On Windows, uninstall Podwobble from Settings › Apps; its settings and license file are in %APPDATA%\com.cubtasm.Podwobble. You can delete any of these folders.

This website

podwobble.com uses Google Analytics, run by Google, to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, what device and browser they use, and which link or search brought them here. Google sets cookies to tell repeat visits from new ones. We see only totals, never who you are, and we don’t use Google’s advertising features. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the site asks Google not to set analytics cookies, so those visits are counted without them. You can block Google Analytics with your browser’s privacy settings, a content blocker or Google’s opt-out add-on, and the site works the same. Google’s use of this data is covered by its privacy policy.

Apart from Google Analytics, the site’s fonts, images and videos are served from this site. Like any web server, the host that serves these pages may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, for security and to keep the site running. We don’t use them to identify or track anyone.

The Windows waitlist

If you join the Windows waitlist, we keep the email address you enter. It’s stored by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, and we use it for one thing: a single email on the day Podwobble for Windows can be downloaded. Once that email has gone out, we delete the list. We never share or sell the address. To be taken off the list sooner, write to support@podwobble.com.

Children

Podwobble isn’t aimed at children. Because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your information, we’ll say so clearly here before it takes effect.
